Sexual Assault occurs any time a person is forced, coerced, and/or manipulated into any unwanted sexual activity. It is motivated by the need to control, humiliate, and harm, and not by sexual desire. It violates a person’s trust, autonomy and feeling of safety.
Most important, if you are a victim of rape, you must remember that the assault was NOT your fault. No one asks to be raped. A sexy outfit, an extra drink, or even flirting are not invitations to be raped.
Statistics show that one out of every four girls and one out of every six boys will be a victim of sexual violence before they reach the age of eighteen. 67% of sexual assault victims are under eighteen.
