VIP, along with the rest of the world, mourns the loss of Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. A true champion of women, RBG was famous for fighting for human rights and ensuring that every voice, no matter how small, is heard.
As the second woman appointed to the United States Supreme Court, Ginsberg was instrumental in passing laws that offered equality for all. Some of these laws include the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, which protects women from being fired or not considered for a position because they are pregnant or plan to start a family. She also paved the way for the Equal Credit Opportunity Act of 1974, before which women could not open bank accounts or apply for a mortgage without a male co-signer. And, up until 1979, women were not required to serve on juries, which RBG helped to change, resulting in possibly her most famous quote “women belong in all places where decisions are being made.”
From a woman who was denied multiple interviews based on her gender, to one of the most powerful and influential people in America, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was, and always will be, the definition of strength. For her incredibly hard work, relentless advocacy and unconditional love, we say thank you to the Notorious RBG.
